I am a bit of a chocaholic and so this vegan chocolate shake has been a go to treat for me, it is chocolately while still being healthy with no added sugar and packed full of goodness. It is a great source of micronutrients, an especially good source of B6, B2, Iron and Manganese.
Getting enough protein can be difficult as a vegan, I love Epic protein powder it is a great source of Amino Acids, which are essential for growth and repair and a vital part of our detoxification process.
I also add Maca powder to the smoothie, you can leave this out if you don’t have it but is a great source of Vitamin C E and the B vitamins, as well as minerals like calcium, zinc and iron. It balances hormones and is known to increase fertility.
While I was training for a half marathon I had this shake every day and I give it credit for getting me ready and through the race. Enjoy this super easy and delicious healthy treat.
- 1 banana (1/3 cup when pureed)
- 1 tbs tahini
- 1 ½ tbs cacao powder
- 1 serving protein powder
- 1 tsp Maca powder
- ½-3/4 cup hemp milk
- ¼ cup water or as needed
- Place all the ingredients in a blender, add as much liquid (water/milk) as you desire, mix until combined.
* Add a swirl of chocolate sauce a sprinkle of nuts or even some crushed up cookies and brownies.
